Arriving by Air

The nearest airport to Lecce is:

  • Brindisi Airport (Salento Airport) – approximately 45 km away

From the airport, you can reach Lecce by:

  • Shuttle bus (direct service to Lecce city center, ~40 minutes)
  • Taxi (approximately 30–40 minutes)
  • Car rental, available at the airport

Alternatively:

  • Bari International Airport (about 165 km away) offers a wider range of international flights. From Bari, you can reach Lecce by train, bus, or car.

Arriving by Train

Lecce is easily accessible by train from major Italian cities.

  • Direct connections are available from Rome, Milan, Bologna, and Naples.
  • High-speed trains (Frecciarossa and Frecciargento) connect Lecce with central and northern Italy, sometimes requiring a transfer in Bari.
  • The Lecce railway station is located close to the city center, about a 15–20 minute walk or a short taxi ride from most hotels and the conference venue.

Arriving by Car

Traveling by car offers flexibility, especially if you plan to explore the surrounding region.

  • Lecce is connected via the A14 motorway (Autostrada Adriatica), which runs along Italy’s east coast.
  • From Bari, follow the SS16 highway south toward Brindisi and Lecce.
  • The drive from Bari to Lecce takes approximately 1.5–2 hours.

Please note:

  • The historic city center is a restricted traffic zone (ZTL). Access is limited, and fines may apply for unauthorized entry.
  • Parking is available outside the city walls, with several public parking areas within walking distance of the center.

September is one of the most popular months to visit Lecce due to its pleasant weather and vibrant cultural scene.

As a result:

  • Accommodation fills up quickly, often months in advance
  • Prices may be higher than average
  • Availability in the historic center can be particularly limited
